BERN SHEEP FOLD DOG (BERNER SENNENHUNDE)

Bern sheep fold dog exists almost 100 years. It´s origin country is Switzerland around Bern, it means Bern inland, Emental and Alps foothill.

This breed had to personify different types of dogs-family, watching, bucolic, beater-up, vehicular, and beside this also protecter and accomplice on the journeys. These many-sides demands requested from him specific character qualities as intelligence, willingness to work, controllability, fellowship, loyalty, alertness, courage, devotion, composedness and all these were attributes, because of which is bern sheep fold dog favourite also today.

The popularity of bern sheep fold dog shortly started to spread also behind the borders of Switzerland. In short period of time entered this breed into the land of Germany. Already in 1991 german married couple Frank and Nanny Behrens imported the dog named Senn von Schlossgut. to Germany. In 1917 than come next female dog Regina von Oberaargau. These two dogs were standing by the breed roots of bern sheep fold dog. From the connection of these two dogs arosen the famous birth "vom Sieberhaus".

1923 - was established German association of bern sheep fold dogs ( Schweizer Sennenhund- Verein für Deutschland SSV)

1952 - was established special breed association of sheep fold dogs in German democratic republic ( Spezialzuchtgemeinschaft für Berner Sennehunde-SZG )

1992 - was established german club for bern sheep fold dogs (Deutscher club für Berner Sennenhunde- DCBS). The same year was established slovak club of bern sheep fold dogs breeders.
